Blueprint 1543 encourages churches to nurture integrated, sciency people and to welcome their contributions to strengthening church communities and their missions. That is, we encourage scientists and their intellectual contributions to be integrated into the life of churches, recognizing the value they bring to strengthening church communities and their missions. The sciences are gifts from God for us to better understand the world around us — including the people in it — so that we can better care for it as God’s stewards. A scientifically integrated church embraces the good gifts of the sciences as tools in God’s Kingdom work.
Project Spotlight
In April 2023, Blueprint 1543, in partnership with the John Templeton Foundation, hosted the Psychology for Ministry Summit, bringing together researchers, ministers, and thought leaders to explore the intersection of psychological science and church life. This gathering was a key part of Blueprint 1543’s ongoing investment in fostering scientifically integrated churches—churches that recognize the value of scientific contributions in strengthening their communities and advancing their missions.

Over several days, participants shared valuable insights on how psychological science can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, as well as the challenges they face in applying these insights within a ministry context. Blueprint 1543 is committed to supporting churches in this integration, offering tools and resources that empower leaders to embrace the sciences as gifts from God that help us better understand and care for the world He created.
As a result of the summit, Blueprint 1543 developed a resource to guide future research and project design, helping churches leverage psychology to thrive. This document includes practical planning questions, strategies for project launch, and solutions for overcoming potential roadblocks.
We invite you to access the Applied Psychology for Thriving Faith Communities resource and watch our video resource, where you can hear from those investing in this vital work to strengthen the integration of science and ministry.
